Watched this again today for 10th or so time and noticed something questionable. When the enemy comes into town, the guys start slamming mortar rounds on the ground and throwing them like grenades. True?

Tom Sizemore played one bad-a$$ soldier in this movie, then went to hell in a handbasket. My best memory of him will always be this show...

No. Not with today's mortar rounds. Youtube mortar live fire, and you'll see how violent the explosion is from hangin' a round. If the explosion at the base of the tube is enough to send a 60mm some 3 klicks, what do you think it would do to their hands if ignited that way? No way would I try that lol. I wasn't a charlie (indirect artillery Infantryman) but hung out with them, and I can tell you that round going off is no joke.

That was my thought too. Never seen any kind of delay on a mortar, drop it in the tube and off she goes...
