That's gotta be an early 70's or late 60's model.
I wonder if he put an 'M' motor in it.

Its a BMW 2002 (model not year) from the 1960-70's. They have a fairly large following in America from there roots in the American Trans Am races. They are usually compared with Datsun 510's as those were there main competitors and have a similar following.
