Me and a buddy went and checked out the street race night at U.S. 41 dragway last night...I saw one GN from Illinois that had I think weld draglites on it...the only run I saw from it ran a 13.3...i will be there with my buddy again next friday at the street car chaos and we will both be running our cars...

also saw two 03' Cobras...a sonic blue one that sounded stock and had street tires i believe ran a best of 12.5 @ 111...the other was a white one that also sounded stock and had i think street tires on it...ran 12.7 @ 110

most of the night both of them were in the mid 12's...so these cars are no joke!

You especially as a TR owner never guess a car is stock just by ear!

Ask them next time to get the fact's .

I havent seen a good run out of one of these Cobras yet down here and I have seen plenty. I 'm waiting though.... ;)

12.5 ain't bad if it is stock.

Let the doubters unite.:D

FYI, I didn't see a bone stock LS1 run a 12 for almost 2 years after GM started putting that motor in the F-body. However, just because I didn't see it didn't mean it wasn't happening.
I've seen stock '03's at both Atco and E-town running 12's.

Exactly, I think you are saying they had stock exhaust. You won't hear an overdrive pulley or any of the other easy mods they do to make a supercharged car quicker.

Geez..I think if they can get a bone stock Z-28 to run a 12.9, they can get a bone stock Cobra in the mid 12's.

Nobody said anything about the Z28:confused:

I am simply stating that he sould get his facts on such a "HOT" subject before posting on this board. I m not doubting anybody..... I like to have facts before believing.

LPOTT:)

Good bye!

I have two friends with 03 cobra's. One of them dyno'd with like 430 something to the wheels with just a couple mods like exhaust, intake, lightning pulley and a chip. And the best he has run on wore out drag radials is a 12.10 or something like that. The other one has the same mods but also a 75 shot and it dyno'd with 510 to the wheels and he is on slicks and has run best of like a 7.14 in the 1/8th I dont know any 1/4 mile times on his car. But they just dont impress me all that power and and it goes no where. They owner of the 03 with 510 hp also take all the interior out and runs 2 donuts on the front so his car is less than street weight when he is runnin it.

well regardless if they were stock or not they were on street tires...why would someone do all those mods and be serious about racing and then run on street tires? i think they were stock...i can usually tell if someone has done exhaust and pulleys, etc...

Justin, if you are talking about "Blake's" car, I have seen it run 10.97? in the 1/4 on slicks..

Last time I checked this is turbobuick.com ,we know these cars are fast but lets talk about what we can do to make our cars faster, who cares about the 03s,yes they are fast so what! It just took so long for someone to catch up,times change technology advances lets move on now :D

Last I checked it was the lounge. Oh and some early 90's LT1's, all LS1's and some Mustangs were faster than a stock GN, so it hasn't been that long for technology to catch up. They are impressive cars, and i'm sure knowing your enemy and what he's capeable of will help in stoplight encounters.:D

Sorry I should have said what i really meant and it was that with minimal mods, gns were easily put into the 12s like the new snakes, but I don't think any of the 90s ls1 or lt1 were put into the 12s with minimal mods ,And I'm not talking about any big shots of nos either. So that was my point sorry not to confuse any one with my OPINIONS. Alan

NOS is a bolt on, I've raced a bunch of cars that sprayed and if you lose against a guy spraying, you still lose. LS1's are capeable of 12's off the showroom (GMHTP Z-28 test) and there have been a bunch of C5's put in the 12.6 range off the showroom, and not to mention high 11 bone stock ZO6's. I am suprised though that it took a manufacturer so long to put forged internals into their motor, and we know what our cars can do with forged internals, now take the Cobra with a bunch more cubic inches and a stronger block than ours (stock block). I think everyone here would pay $3k more for a motor on their next sports car that had forged internals.

I don't know what is so amazing about a car running the times claimed above. With the technology available today, I would expect it.

Remember folks we/most of us were around 17 years ago when the GN's hit the road.
