For some reason my scanmaster 2.1 won't display malfunction codes. I never noticed it before, I have used it for codes on other cars, not my own.
I just installed my stroker motor, GTQ76 turbo, 95lbs injectors, modded ECM. The car would run for about 10 mins, start to stumble really bad, check engine light would flash, coolant temp would show -40, 140, -9, etc, IAC all over. I figured collant temp sensor. Changed that, same thing. I then noticed the rpm are showing 6375 when this happens. Changed ECMs, that problem was solved. I wanted to figure what the light was on for, and the scanmaster doesn't even have the MAL display in it. I did the paper clip in A and B, and the light doesn't flash, the car makes a weird buzzing and clicking sound. When I first started it, it idled down, IAC was in the 20's, idle was in the 900's, etc. It then started to idle at 775 (too low), and IACs were at 120 to 140's. Then it started idleing in the 900's again but IAC's were around 84. I shut it off and restarted it and IACs were in the 30's but the idle was jumping from 925 to 1050. The IAC is newer and worked great on the old engine. My O2 is getting lazy, that might be a problem. I have an Extender Extreme chip, and tried open loop idle with no change. Maybe it is locked using the fuel trim from the lazy O2, causing no change? I have the screen removed from the LS1 sensor, and I had to make crappy adapters for my 4" hose to the sensor, maybe it is too turbulant? I plan on running a 4" MAS, but my GEN 2 needs updating.
I have never ran into weird problems like this. I am running a borrowed ECM, so I need a new one. Who sells modded ECM's? Any insight on the idle problems would be appreciated.

the reson why you SM will not dispplay MAL is that ther is no codes stored in the computer. (verified by paperclip) The car will run about 15% leaner with the screen removed and the air flow change is minumal, that will also cause idle problems so that could be part of it, try adding some idle fuel

do you have a fast update code chip

this will add pulse width for injectors and spark but you loose mal and cc

That is why then. I never noticed it before, but never had the light come on, so never needed to check.

My MAS is screenless and I cut out the center bridge. I wish I kept the screen. I added 5psi fuel pressure. Maybe I will add some fuel in the chip or GEN 2. The car was always lean with my old combo. I just adjusted the BLM correction, and it worked like a charm. I might try that.

You can get a modded ecm from Red Armstrong....

Got that handled, thanks.

Idle update:
I added 15% fuel in the GEN 2, and it stated idleing better. I ended up at 17.5%. It is all in check, nice idle around 900 to 950, IAC in the 20's. Thanks Mike. I also noticed the shift light option and blm correction are gone in the Extreme G chip. I liked both features over knock light and boost.
Now if it wasn't snowing again I would be able to test it.

Add more fuel that tht if you cut out the center too. Although you may not want to hear it I would see if you can find a dead sensor and swap the meatl parts for one that has not been cut up. Taking out the bar does not add much if any flow and realy changes the curve of the sensor. YOu will have some tuning issues but the the great thing about the Gen 2 is you can tune them out. You may have some 20% swings in fuel that lok crazy but just give the car what it wants and you will be fine do not get concerned about numbers that look wrong as long as the car likes it. Let me knwo if you need help
