This is the exact reason why i think a GN posi rear should not be worth $1000  thats just greed

no, it's supply and demand.

People will only sell a GN rear for $1000 if somebody will pay them $1000. Otherwise it will be taking up space in their garage. You could have bought all of the GN rears you wanted back when they were $500 and tripped over them in your garage for the last 10 years.

Of course you would be asking $1000 for them now, because of the hassle involved, but at least it wouldn't be greed, anymore.

The answer to $1000 GN rear ends is offering the seller less for them. If they really aren't worth $1000, somebody will take you up on your offer.

You are correct. People are also complaining about NOS parts prices and think it's because the cars are now "classic" and gaining more interest. WRONG!! They skyrocket the second that people find out they are discontinued. Simple supply VS. demand. The supply virtually goes to zero overnight because most people have no way to know how many parts are left in GMs warehouse. Lettered hood liners, new grilles, headlight bezels, etc. were cheap for years and people apparently thought they'd be available forever that way. If THEY had these items in their closet they wouldn't be giving them away either. You guys should be getting those center caps and emblems and bumper fillers while they last, before you have to pay 4X the price to get them (the rear fillers are already outrageous enough from GM).

FWIW I would convert to a different rear end long before I'd give a grand for a used 20 year old rear, but that's just me.
