Seal between dipstick and top of tube?

Is there a seal of some sort that goes inside the handle of the dipstick that holds it in place? It seems to be too loose when it is all the way in the tube?
How tight should it fit?

Hi Paul,
There not one on any of my three cars.
The bends or kinks in the dip stick rod should hold it in the tube.
