My idle has started searching up and down, not alot but noticeable. And when i start the car the idle is high and is slow to come down, even when its warm the idle is slow to come down. The EGR was sticking, and i was able to get it moving. It is supposed to move, right? Anyway, what is the function of it and how will it affect my driveability?

Thanks, Scott

From what I recall it doesn't do anything at idle.

Possible vacuum leaks or diaphragm leaks however.

My recent hunting idle was cured by a chip reseating in the ECM.

Bought a used modified ECM for my 55's, big mistake. :(

I tried 2 different chips. I will try another and see.

Scott,

If you're using the stock MAF and have the screens removed can cause the same problem of "hunting" for the correct idle.

Good luck,

It just started, i havent made any combo changes for a while.

I am having the same problem, it runs like crap unless on 100 octane. I should know alot more when I get my SM next week. I changed the maf sensor, that helped alot. If your not strapped for cash may as swap it because it will probably die soon if it isnt already.

My MAF is fairly new. I will check it when i put my laptop back in. If it goes im just buying a translator.
