I need a little help solving a problem with the seat belt light. Even when the seat belt is locked it still chimes while driving. Is this only for the driver or passenger too? I don't know where to start any help would be appreciated.
thanks

The problem is your little chime box thingy has gone bad. It is a black box about the size of a pack of cigarettes located under the dash. It is to the right of the steering column when sitting in the seat. It is easier to find if you leave your keys in the ignition or your lights on so it will chime while the doors open.

Yes it affects the light too.

Check the seat belt switch drivers side, make sure the connector is unplugged near the harness bolt mount. No ground to the input of the box and the thing should stay silent.

Most people just unplug that connection behind the drivers seat. :)

mine started acting goofy too. It sounded like it had a battery in it that was going bad. The chime would change tone and the sound dragged! Kinda funny. I just took it out. It was hard as heck to get to.

Pin 4 on the chime box is the seat belt input. Blk/Wht strp. wire.

Open circuit should not cause the light and tone. If it still does it with that wire cut or removed from the connector it is the chime box itself.

Thanks guys. The chime box is making a funny tone noise. I will give it a try tomorrow.

mine does the same, but only the light comes on when driving. But at night, with the headlights on, it beeps when the seatbelt light comes on. During the day it doesnt bother me, but at night it can get rather annoying with it beeping every 10-60sec.
