Security light stays on when car is off.

I stopped at my bank on the way home from work today and when I was coming back out to my car I noticed my security light was on. It wasnt flashing like the door was ajar it was solid like it was armed. I hadnt locked my door when I went into the bank so it shouldnt have been armed. Anyways I got in and shut the door and it still wouldnt go off. I started the car and it went off but as soon as I turned the car off when I got home it came back on and wont go off. Ive tried locking and unlocking the doors from inside and out. Disconecting the battery. The only way it goes off is when the car is on. Anyone ever had this happen before. Check your door jamb switches for proper operation and shorts to ground.

Or else the door lock cylinder switch for a short to ground.

Light blue and tan wires respectively for 1986/1987 cars not sure about color code for the 85's.

Assumed it was the same type alarm system too.

If it isn't in that wiring the theft deterrant controller box is shot. :frown:

It's usually a wire however.

Well my door jam switches still seem to work fine cause my interior lights go off when the door is shut. Where is the module for the security system located?

Well Ive tried looking at all the lock switches and everything along those lines and it all ooks ok. I still havent been able to loacate the module for the security system though. I hate doing it but I guess I will just have to take it to Buick this week and see if they can figure out whats wrong.

it is located under dash driver side, on the side of the car up in dash shaped liked a black cig. box size its a PIA to get at believe me if ya need pics let me know i'll crawl my arthritic A** in there and take a pic, it is most likely your problem though and its junk yard search time unless someone knows where to get, heck gm may still make but i don't think so.
