I purchased a security system from one of the vendors and it is designed to interrupt the orange wire that powers the ECM

My question is,is this a good idea?

Does the ECM have to learn the chip everytime i remove power from it?

Thanks for taking the time to read my delema and for your thoughts

Just wire it so it interupts the signal from the crank sensor or the fuel pump.

B5 purple with white stripe wire is the reference pulses.

Interrupting that wire will kill the car, kills it when running as well so be careful, same as interrupting the fuel pump relay wire.

Kill switch

I tapped into the orange wire with the connection from a nonworking O2 sensor. I think I also picked up the mating connector from Casper's. Didn't have to cut any wires on the car. Ran the wires inside the car to a kill switch. Could probably also do it from the fuel pump connection back at the fuel tank. I just like not having to cut wires, especially on a low mile car.

Would'nt that mean the chip has to get relearned again?

As if it were new to the car?

The security kit that i purchased is a plug&play unit no wires to cut,but it takes power away from the pcm and then the pcm would have to learn the chip everytime/everyday?

It's no worse than disconnecting the battery. Doesn't seem to have any negative long term effects, and could keep the car from being stolen.
