I'm doing a supercharged LT1 swap into a 78' Chevy Malibu, the drive-train also consist of a 200-4R and 8.5 from a GN. Would I be able to use a GN drive shaft without having to cut it? The stock Malibu drive shaft is set for a 350 or a regular 200 transmission which both are shorter than a 200-4R. So where I would have had to cut the stock drive shaft in order for it to fit behind the 200-4R, I'm hoping by going with a GN drive shaft I won't have to do any cutting. Doe's anyone know the length of a stock GN drive shaft?

your gonna just have to get one and try it...malibu is an a-body and the 81 -up is an g-body....it might go...

The 350 and the 200 are the same length as the 200-4R. The drive shaft in the GN is about 1" shorter. I did use a stock driveshaft from a 78 Malibu with a 8.5 GN rear but the trans yoke butted into the rear trans seal when the car was on the lift. I couldn't get the driveshaft out unless the car was sitting on the tires.
