ok so for a while ive been runnin 13-14 lbs off the tial 44 wastegate ive put into the passenger side header. origionally i had used the boost reference out of the turbo and routed it straight to the wastegate.... in this setup id get a solid 13.5 psi at wot in datalogs on my BS3

today i decided (while waiting for a bigger wastegate spring in the mail) that i would move the boost reference to the vacume block right behind the throttle body, and "cheat the system" by using all the pte intercooler piping and throttle body as a small restriction thereby causing that same 13.5 psi to swell up to a slightly higher boost.

such was not the case, as when i pulled up the datalogs for after i moved the wasegate reference, i found the average boost reading at WOT to be around 11.5-12.0 psi........what gives? with more distance and restriction down line from the turbo, wouldnt the boost pressure be less than the turbo outlet and therby cause the effective wastegate pressure to go up? thoughts?

the only thing i can think of is that im running a power plate which could be causing a pressure spike behind the throttle body.

anybody care to shed some light?

You answered your own question but with backwards logic. You put your line after the restriction hence less boost. Put a washer in a garden hose and the most pressure is going to be before not after.

how was this backwards logic? my thought was that since the power plate causes a restriction, that the pressure would be slightly higher in the "doghouse" section of my intake causing the wastegate to open sooner.
