My wifes riv on occasion decides it doesn't want to start. It will crank all day but seems there is no spark. When the key is turned to the on position the fuel pump charges the line, but when the key is turned to the start position it just cranks over and over but will not start. This situation could last for 5 min or up to as long as 45 min. This all takes place randomly, it could happen after a 5 min drive or a 5 hr ride. When the car decides to start it starts instantly, and runs fine.Any help on this matter would be greatly apprieciated Thanks DAVE

The most common problem with something like that on a series 2 motor would be the Crank Shaft Postion sensor.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking,I was just wondering if it could be the ignition key itself.I thought I read somewhere that the chip on the key can go bad.I have now told the wife to carry a spare key with her to try next time the car doesn't start. If that doesn't work I'll have to pick up a crank sensor.
