I upgraded my ecm to 86 and have the TT chip with matching 42.5 injectors. i installed them and did what was said and the engine light comes on? what could that be. I didnt change the maf! could that be the problem?

With the 86/87 ECM you need an 86/87 MAF or Translator. Also the car will throw a code (turn the SES light on) if the IAT sensor wire was not ran or hooked up.

Help us to help you . . . .What is the code?

X2 . . . Unless he specifically asked not to have it installed in the chip.
(Still unsure why anyone would not want to read temp )

How do u read codes? If u Can by How the service light blinks it doesn't. When I first start the car its fine Ans after a few seconds the light comes on and stay. Sorry if I'm making this hard but I'm am very new to this

o ok got it i thought they ment it will blink a certain amount of times. So a 84/85 maf will be good as long as i use the translator correct?

If you use the stock MAF, you can not use the translator.
The translator is only used with the newer style MAF's.

You can make the service engine soon light flash and tell you the faults codes the ecm has stored, you have to trip the computer into diagnostic mode and it will flash the codes, give me a minute I have to find the link to the page that tells you how to do it, all you need is a metal paper clip or 3 inch piece of wire to jump the proper terminals on the analog hook up thats on the left of your radio under the dash and the page I'm gonna find u the link to shows u a picture of it too. hang on.

ok here it is

diagnostic mode / trouble codes
