Hey everyone i have been reading about knock & SES lite so i need to ask this "Q" I have 1984 GN all stock runs good just wanted to make it run smoother so i put a 87 ECM in it with TT chip and my calpak chip in the car & it really made it run smooth & idels way better but the SES light stays on. Also when car is in park and i rev it up to about 2k i here low knock but when i stand on the car noise or knock is gone. Frist thing that came to my mind was spun a bearing or bottom end going away like "ROD KNOCK" but oil looks good no bearing materail at all. Car is all stock except ECM with TTchip. fixed the cracks on driver side header & now doing passenger side & putting on ajustabl FPR & gauge & gonna set that @ 43 psi line off & getting test pipe. Car never had the SES lite stay on befor & never heard it knock till i changed ECM and the TT Chip .
Any help would be great Thanks bob

what specs ddid you put on your ttchip? did you get the IAC sensor burnt off? try reseating the chip as well as the ecm connections.

What other upgrades have you done?

Talked to Eric @TTchip and he said that the "MAT" was not taken out so that's Y the SES stays on. I am going to run a MAT sensor to the ECM or send the chip back to have him take it out and upgrade the chip.

Car upgrades are 87 ECM and ttchip str8 pipe no converter with cutout and a ajustable FPR set @ 43 psi line off & ram air. I also have vac/boost & A/F gauges getting ready to put oil pressure and water temp. As for the knock it's all good now started car after fixing header cracks and bumping fuel up knock went away. Just seems to have a little tick at idel after warm up on drivers side think it could be a lifter, cross over pipe not seated rite  also i have new autolite #22 are them ok ? Thanks

I would just get the mat sensor burnt off, you really dont need it, one less thing to worry about. Make sure your oil level is good, these motors tend leak a bit. I use a bit of lucas, every now and then marvel mystery oil(walmart is cheaper for big bottle) to add to the fuel and motor. also, when its first started, check all the exhaust connections, crossover, up&down pipe for any leaks by moving your hand over and around them. I use NGK v power plugs myself (advance stocks them cheaper) at stock gap. autlites should be fine. Your air/fuel gauge is a narrow band(im guessing) Try this out, keep an eye on your air/fuel gauge with autolites, at idle then driving. Then get a set of NGKs and see which you like better ;)

Changed the oil and filter on the car today runs really good. Still have a little tick think it is a exhaust leak just gonna have to keep looking. Pulled code number #23 from the SES lite just as BRAD & YOURSELF said MAT sensor not burned off the chip. When i send the chip back to eric at tt should i have him put more boost in it only getting 13 psi now how much boost at safe zone ? Was thinking like 20 psi :D JK unless it would be ok.

With your setup you are probably about maxed on your boost already.Your boost is
adjusted through the wastegate on the turbo, not in the chip.A generally "STOCK"(I will
amend this as most of us have at least done the afp reg, wastegate,TT chip and fuel pump/injector swap.)setup on premium gas is probably good for 12-15 lbs of boost, this will depend on the car, each one reacts slightly different.Hope I made some sense of this,
I am still a newb at these cars, learning as I go.

x2

15lbs seems to be our max, you can get an adjustable wastegate or thread yours. Any higher boost , your gonna want some upgrades to go with it. Alky kit atleast, some headwork and better exhaust.
