It seems since trying to get the car going, I have posted on all the thread catagories. So here goes this one. When I shift the car from P to 1, it will not stay in 1 and I have to hold it there or it will jump to 2. I have replaced the old frayed cable w/ a new GM cable and thought my problem would go away, it didn't. Is there an adjustment that I can make somewhere?

Thanks all, Lee

The pin were the cable attaches to the arm on the transmission selector shaft is adjustable.

thanks mikestertwo, i'll try it when i get home. should i move the cable toward the front or the back of the car?

Try adjusting it by removing the cable from the pin at the transmission end, put the shifter in manual low (1st) and then adjust the pin on the transmission arm until the pin lines up with the eye in the cable end, then reinstall the cable. The pin has a 15mm nut (I think) on it thats used to adjust it.

fantastic, thanks again mikestertwo!

btw..i am envious of your oldsmobiles.
