shift problem

hi,just bought an 87 gn,trans was rebuilt.problem is that when i floor it it shifts way early,like 2400 rpm,tried adjusting tv cable no luck,also if i manually shift it shifts by itself to 2nd.it will hold till i shift to 3rd and overdrive.any idea's?
