A new cam sensor. But now, only a couple months later, this new one is knocking pretty bad.

Does it knock at idle or while reving in park. Mine only does it it while driving

Have you replaced the timing chain?

FWIW, when I replaced the cam sensor, 50% of the "tapping" noise went away. After I replaces the timing set, silent. I believe the slop in the chain caused noise.

I too had a buzzing rattle at 2000 rpms. After chasing it for many months, it turned out to be vibrating tranny cooler lines making contact various parts of the car. I zip tied them so they didn't touch anything, and the buzzing was gone.

The timing set is original. Car has 96k miles. I'm thinking the same thing regarding the timing chain. The cam sensor is not making any noise. No noise from the valve train either. I just put on new valve springs and fixed the cracked ds header.
