Shims under girdle

I have an opportunity to pic up a block that has billet caps and a girdle.I was told by owner that it has shims under girdle over the caps is this ok?Motor ran fine .

The girdle does come with shims

The better the machine work the thinner the shins will be.

My RPE stroker had shims...When rebuilt at Richard Clarks the shims were re installed.
