Much to my surprise....got a nice bonus check today at work...haven't seen one of these in 2.5 years so.... COOL!!!!!

Already ordered my Cold air kit, MAF pipe and front bumper fillers (old ones are fragging big time) from TR Customs and about to order the Hooker cat back from Jegs or Summitt.

For a good low restriction stock replacement (bolt in) cat....any recommendations?

I have not decided on a down pipe or not. I'm eyeballing RJC's but this upgrade might have to wait on higher priorities (like a good security system....mines broke). I'll port the stock exhaust elbow if I don't go for the down pipe.

Pappa Lou...one of my priorities is the rear main seal, oil pan gasket and old timing gear set replacement. How much you want?
Would also like to replace my valve springs. At 107K miles I'm overdue.

Any other effective upgrades to finally get me into my 12 second bogie range?
I know 12's aint much for a GN, but I need to keep the car reliable.

See my sig for where I'm at now.
Might also consider going for the SLIC upgrade if my remaining budget allows....

My white car had about the same setup but I did have a TA 49 turbo and it was running high 11's. The one problem you might have is getting a good launch; so focus on the rear brakes and add some S10 wheel cylinders and a line lock. Box the upper and lower stock control arms and remove the pinion snubber. My engine was bone stock with the addition of 100# (seat pressure) valve spring. Also remove the front sway bar and of course use slicks. There is a lot of information on different recipes to get to your goals so do a search for more opinions.
Good luck,
Jeff

I wouldn't run out & buy anything without first verifying that the engine is solid. Leakdown test, check bearings & cam lift, etc. I know its boring to suggest these things & more fun to buy speed parts buts it's important to have a good foundation to start with. Then pick someone that has had success, gone fast, is in tune with your goals & budget, made all the expensive mistakes & stick with their recipe. Call me for an estimate with what you need . Lou

QUICK QUESTION WHAT IS THE REASON FOR REMOVING THE FRONT SWAY BAR.

x2 I had a poor rebuild from Jasper Engines, once I added the upgraded parts I have on my car now, I ended up with blown HG's and spun main barrings. Take the extra time to ensure you have a stable platform.

Andrew, I hate to see anyone go through what you had to before to learn the hard way. I spend a lot of my time preaching & answering questions on the phone & here at the shop. How many times people have shown up at my door with a trunk full of speed parts bought on some deal off the internet to install on a car with a bad trans & worn out engine. Then I get accused of being cranky & picking on them. Doesn't make any sense.

Helps weight transfer to the back wheels so the car can squat on 'em and grab.

Oh by the way, are you sure that wasn't a severance check? ;) LOL

Ooooh...that's mean...

Don't worry, ya ol' grouch ;) ....I'll call and come buy to leave it with you for you to look it over as suggested before I bolt anything serious on. I would bring it by this weekend...but I'll be driving it.

Until you retire or...expire (perish the thought:eek: )....or evict me from the Turbo Lou family...Your hands will be the only hands that touch it other than my own...and maybe Spoolfool...definitely not Ralph.

Maybe next week...definitely by next Sat, I want to bring it in for an appointment (leakdown, cam lift, main seal, pan gasket...bearing check while you're under there..., timing gears). I'll give you a call to set it up.

Can I pleeeeeease put the cold air kit on if it arrives before then????
Thanks!
Tim

Uh...oops....sorry Lou...I'm misbehaving again.
Just asking....:p

Well I guess it's OK, didn't mean to sound harsh. just trying to make a point & using this as an example. As for Ralph I would put a restraining order on him not to get within 50 feet of your car. The guys a jinx & can mess up a two car funeral. His drivers licence was issued in TJ . He also fired me &
Jeff is his new daddy. Another one bites the dust.
