I have the ability to buy a few engine parts that I don't know much about. Owner of machine shop died. One is a 109 block. Said to be good but I don't know the details. Two sets of two dot rods. One GM 4.1 block that passed mag and is bored 0.30. One crank. Don't know its condition. Also a set of heads. No idea what they are. Mainly I'm interested in the two blocks.

Is this stuff worth having? I'm mainly interested in the blocks. With limited knowledge what are they worth? Thanks guys!

I would definitely pick up the 109 and the 2 dot rods. If he has any rolled fillet cranks grab them too. I didn't see a casting number for that 4.1 block but being only .030 over they can hit it again and have some real thin walls. Maybe another .005 and fit it with some 4" pistons.
Sounds like a haul.

Like an idiot i forgot to take a pic of the casting number on the 4.1. Only 1 crank and it was stock. Is there a 4.1 casting I should avoid or are they all desirable?

At this point any of the 4.1 should be scooped up. Just hard to find these days. 291, and 484 seem to be the most common but there is a Cadillac one out there(253 I think) but I would buy any of them.
If it is a rolled fillet crank I'd grab it too. Unless it is .030 user already. At .010 or .020 one might get by with just polishing it.

OK thanks for your help. I'm going to scoop it up I guess. I'll do some searching and plan on building a stroked 4.1.

He wants $100 a set for the rods. I would need to buy different rods anyway right for the stroker?

OK I'm picking up both blocks tomorrow for $450.

If somebody wants the rods let me know. He wants $100 and I would have to ship them

Skip the rods at that price. They can be had on here for less than half that for the last set I bought.
Yes different rods for a stroker.
Good deal for two blocks that have been checked out.
I'd place a call to David husek at turbobuickperformance.com or fullthrottlespeed.com , either can set you up with a stroker setup.

BTW verified to be a 291 casting on the 4.1. Looks like I'll have a project engine now. Never liked the idea of pushing my OE block anyway. I'll keep the original block in a corner in case these cars ever become so valuable I can't afford to keep it lol
