should i cut my header flanges?

i just re welded them dont want to take em off again should i cut the flanges? will a slice with the sawzal do the trick or do i need to make like a 1/2" gap??? or should i leave it alone. they are jet hot coated with the 2000 degree stuff now also... i dont know if it will jack up the coating if i cut them now...?

and is it the heat that cracks them or the vibration or combo of both?

if they are sealing i'd be tempted to leave them alone.if they won't seal(cuz of warped flanges)or they keep cracking you can use a sawzall to cut the flange to relieve the stress on the welds.
