I ask because I was foolish and got a turbo that is probably a tad on the big side for my application. I want to know if I would see any benefits as far as turbo spool?
I already have a boost controller, and that helps... but please be aware I have a Firebird not a GN (see sig for mods). My RK Sport headers travel backwards... the driver side wraps around behind the motor under the trans and then meets up with the passenger side which does a 180* turn and then they go forward to the turbo (sits in almost the same exact spot as the GNs). I had all that custom built and mandrel bent out of stainless steel. I would really like to know if wrapping from the headers to the turbo with this stuff: Header wrap and turbo down pipe wrap insulation would help it spool harder? I'm guessing since my exhaust has to travel much further than most cars if it would help?
Also, any tips or tricks on wrapping? Best brand wrap?
Edit - Some afterthoughts. The headers are RK Sport ceramic coated. As I said above the collectors to turbo are stainless. After reading a tad more I'm hesitant to use the wrap. My valve cover breather drips oil if I run the car hard, and that does NOT sound like a good combo if it finds its way to the exhaust pipes... I was maybe considering just wrapping from the collectors to the turbo, assuming there are no potential oil leaks nearby.
