The place I work part time has a person looking to sell an 87 GN T-top, 23k orig mile for $17k

My Boss wants me to trade my 86 GN HT with 20.9k miles
& will give me $15k..

I don't know all the details about the 87 as far as options.

I kinda want a t-top car but don't think $2k more is worth it.

What do you think?

there were only 5000 86's made, 20,000 87's

t-top cars are less desirable than hard top cars (rattles, leaks, body integrity)

he should be giving you a difference:)

woody is a bit of a snob when it comes to 86s :) ask him why he dont have a perdy chrome grill on his 86:D

Thought you wanted white with blue interior?

I do like the white/blue T's
But after seeing BIG AL's 87 with TTOPS & Big Mag wheels it looked killer.. Kinda like having a convertible GN

I say stay with the 86. Fewer made plus it's a hard top. 87's are a dime a dozen in the turbo buick world. But maybe I'm just partial to the 86's 'cause that was the first GN I ever rode in when I was in 7th grade and I always think of that car when I spot a chrome strip grill GN. I love 'em! But hey, they all rule, no matter which year.

Keep yours and put in an 87 grille!:D Why start over? T-tops, leak, rattle etc and generally make for a weaker body. No offense to you t-top owners:) Are you going to the NEBRA BBQ on Oct 5th?

Yes I am going to NEBRA but not with my GN.
Coming with Pronto in his 87 TR.

MARK, I can't win any classes with your GN there :)
or
the 11 mile GNX from NY. :)

Actually I think Brian is going to change the judge classification
but I am unsure.. If he had just a 86 category I think there was 2 of us last year.

You know your car, and what you've got. I'm sure you know more of it's history and what's been done with it. Keep it.

Besides T-Tops are a headache. They leak. You can't fit anything in your trunk when they're off. If it starts to rain you have to stop and get them out to put them on. I'd take a sunroof on these cars over T-Tops any day. Too bad that's not an option for you.

Keep the 86.

Keep the 86... 5512 made vs 20,000+ in 87. I've had an 86 w/astroroof and loved it. Would like to have another w/digi climate control someday

Not sure if I am going to NEBRA show or not. I know for sure that I am not going to be vending at it. Wasn't worth the effort last year as just about everyone was keeping their hands in their pockets and not taking their wallets out.:D Besides, I don't feel like babysitting parts all day, would rather do some socializing. I believe that the guy who bought that wild TR on ebay might be coming down so a trophy would be out of the question compared to his car. Trophies just collect dust anyway.;)

Surely you must have known the answer to this before you asked the question.
Let's see if I have this right:
An '86 GN hardtop with 21 K miles of known history against a
'87 GN T-top car with 23 K miles of unknown history.
Not much of a contest here.
Just guessing, I would think that you would be entitled to about $ 4 K to make the sale/swap, and then I would bet that you would still regret it.
