I checked through the voltages on the crank and cam sensor wires and I have NO voltage going to the crank sensor, is it supposed to have power going to it? I check the crank wires at the coil pack module and there is no power there either. I even went back to the ecm and checked the B5 purple/white crank reference hi wire and there is no power there either? Should these wires not have any power?

Yes, cam and crank sensors get 12v from the ign module.

Did you have the key in the "ON/RUNNING" position when you made these checks?

Yeah, it was in the running position. The thing is, now when it is in that position I am not getting power to any of the IGN ports on the fuse box either and the ses light doesn't come on. All the fuses are fine though, and they are all getting power! I am going to check the fuseable links at the starter today.

Does anyone know if there are any fuseable links in the interior wiring?

None in the interior. Does sound like a fuse link problem.

What happened before all of this?

Okay, I fixed the interior problem and everything inside is getting power (somehow the gauge fuse was the cluprit). However, I still have no power going to either the cam or crank sensors. The grey-red wires should come on when I touch them with a grounded test light, correct? What would keep them from getting power?

Better yet, what wires connecting to the CCCI should have power when the ignition is in the "on/run" position? I am still not getting any spark when I crank the engine over, and I am pretty sure it is because I am not getting any power to the crank and cam sensors.

Did the car just quit on you? What circumstances led up to the no power problem? Almost sounds as simple as the orange lead connection coming off the battery positive----Keep us posted, Brian

As Geoff said, I am putting an '86 GN engine in a '86 Monte: everything has been completely switched over. I finally got power to the crank and cam sensors (my stupid mistake, I got my CCCI unit from a '85 and failed to remove the Casper's adapter before attaching it to the '86 wiring harness). Now I am wondering if leaving the adapter might have messed up the CCCI module, crank sensor, or cam sensor; because I still have no spark coming from the engine. It seems that everything has power now, orange ECM has the juice.

I've been using the vortex site, and am getting to the end of my search for the problem. I just want to be sure of what is the problem before I go out and buy any parts. The CCCI module is pretty pricy, even at wholesale.

Alright, I got spark! I ended up swapping out the cam sensor. I had another one on a '85 engine: it took some fooling around with but I got the car to produce spark (they changed the wire colors from 85 to 86, the green and grey-red wires swap).
