i was telling this old guy about my slipping gn trans he told me to put brake fluid the small pint in it i drove around for 20 mins to get the fluid hot and it stopped slipping i want to know what it actually does to the trans it shifts like new the trans has 75,000 miles on it

Doh!
The brake fluid swells the rubber lip seals by attacking the rubber. Sure it works better in the short run but the seals won't last much longer.
That old guy must have been one of those polyester plaid-suit, used car salesmen. "Sure...the transmission in this puppy was just overhauled."

In 1945...
I may have worked in an old cruiso, but utter failure is now imminent. Plan on building a new trans here shortly. No way you will get it out now. Should have asked a "qualified" person first.
