I recently purchased an 87 grand national (got rid of the hot air 85) its got 113k miles on it,its all stock except for atr stainless exhaust,i bought it from the second owner who has had it since 88,its been very well taken care of and there are no signs of abuse,my problem is that the tranny dosent seem to be shifting right, when i get on it its ok but just putting around it will shift 1-2 ok but it does the 2-3 shift too fast,i mean that once its in 2 it gets to 3 real quickly like it should be in 2 longer, and when i slow down to a stop sign it kind of hesitates downshifting back from 2-1,also if in 3rd gear driving normally when you punch it it down shifts really hard, almost too hard i think, any way i chenged the tranny mount and dropped the pan and changed the filter, put new fluid in (the old fluid was nice anyway) there wasent really anyhting in the pan i have seen alot worse,i have checked the fluid since and it is at the right level so thats not a problem,it seems that it shifts like this only after its warm,if its cold it shifts like i would want it too,i dont think the tranny is bad i was told that the throttle valve could be adjusted,i havent done it yet because i have heard if its done wrong it will burn out the tranny fast so let me know if this is right, with the engine off push in the button on the tv cable at the throttle bracket then turn the throttle all the way to w.o.t,then release the button, after that release the throttle,if theres something im missing please let me know or if thats right also let me know,if you thinks its something else tell me,i hope i dont need to get the tranny rebuilt but i will it i have too, thanks everyone

first verify that you have a gn valve body and matching governor.ink code on valve body shoul be brf or bq and the governor will have no primary spring.report back and then we will see what to do next.

where do i look in the vb for the ink,and where do i find the governer spring, the guy i bought the car from said nothing was ever even done to the transmission aside from filter changes and flushes so i assume its all stock,if it is where do i go from there, also the car was sitting for about 4 months outside without being driven but i have put about 500 miles on it since so i dont think that would be a big deal
