The site doesnt seem any slower to me? Maybe when everyone is on during the day it is slow, but at night it is fine.

I haven't noticed any changes in access speed. But I will agree, there's a ton of wasted bandwidth!! Political threads, neverending threads, people trying to pad their reply counts, etc.

We got bandwith to spare and could run 5 or so forums this size on this server before it would impact the load. The server could also make ice cream and play chess while maintaining the forum to a perfectly acceptable margin.

TB used to run on a dual 400mhz machine when Bruce owned it. It's on a dual Xeon setup now with 4GB of RAM and a SCSI RAID array.

How much are we charging you to use this site?

Hosting aint cheap unfortunately.

Ive considered a VIP membership for maybe $25.00 a year that removes the Google ads, gives a special user title and raises the PM limit up but I figured if we implemented that, people would complain then too.

and sometimes, sometimes-i use the adds- so i like having a quick link reminder or board supporter there

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but this site has never been faster for me personally... Probably has to do with the fact that I recently got rid of the crappy DSL for Cable, but I tend to think it's also the new server!
