Do you have to connect the updated scanmaster 2.2 to the PL?
Or will it operate as a standalone?

SM not required for PL, laptop needed for logging the ECM info and for setting up the ports for analog data. Conversely, you could also use an updated SM without a laptop but it would not save the results.

If you want the SM 2.2 to display WBO2, MAP and Boost from the powerlogger, it of course needs to be hooked to the powerlogger.

If you don't want those items displayed on SM then there's no need to even bother upgrading to 2.2

I appreciate the info. I just wanted to know if I put the upgrade chip in the SM if it would work. Doesn't matter anymore because I went ahead and installed the PL and hooked the SM to it. Now I need to do some tuning.
