Finally getting around to puttin my SMC kit in. I'm running my own fuel cell and was wondering if the pump needs to be lower than the tank outlet. Also, what should the orientation of the pump be - pump section on top or on bottom.

Thanks
Scott

Isnt the SMC pump designed to run submerged?

To help cool it?

OK maybe I need to elaborate.
Steve built me a METHANOL compatible kit. It has an external Flowjet pump (very large, fittings on one end pump on the other...kinda looks like a "T"), not the usual one that comes with his setups.
I'm using a 1 gallon fuel cell mounted up front under the hood (I'll post pics when done)
SO, hence my question on the pump to tank height

I think you'll be OK mounting the pump above the tank. Just put a check valve in the line. What you might want to do is to bench test it to make sure it's not a problem. Test it......let it sit.....and test again to see how much lag time there is before the alky hits the nozzle. The shorter the hoses the better you are.

Even tho the pumps will work above level, I would rather have it gravity fed and fluid always assured to the pump. That way it can never be dry.
