Well I notice I started smoking out my exhaust. And I was like man. rebuilt engine and its doing this. So I pulled all the plugs out and they are clean no oil on them. SO now I'm wondering about my wastegate and turbo, could it be one of them. Remember my turbo is stock and my wastegate is adjustable they both are pretty old. Could one of them cause me to smoke? How do I check them to see if they are good or what? It makes me really mad. Any help?

Allan:confused:

Try taking the intake tubing off and look at the wheels on the turbo to see if theres any oil in there, might have to pull the turbo to see if theres any oil in the intake.

what color is the smoke

Bluish/greyish smoke

Its mostly blueish smoke. But. Also when your spooling sometimes the power feels like it comes and goes. What might it be.

since your engine's been recently rebuilt, I'd suspect the turbo...

WHEN does it smoke? As in, does is smoke ALL the time, from cold-start on, or does it smoke after it's warmed up? If it's waiting till it's warmed up, you could have oil getting into the exhaust housing and burning...however, the smoke will generally be grayish/whitish more so than bluish--blue smoke is generally a byproduct of being burned in the cylinders.

Like crazy says, have a look at the intake side--pull the TB off if you have to, there shouldn't be any oil there...

If you suspect the exhaust side, it's not a big deal to pull the housing apart to check the exhaust turbine for oil. (as long as your down pipe bolts ain't all seized up!) Once you have the housing off, you can start it and watch the turbine--if it's leaking oil, you'll see it seeping...

Another possibility, is that you're sucking oil into the intake tube from the oil fill spout, so check the inside of the intake tube for oil...

TURBO

Wastegate probably NOT
Turbo Probably. Like BFH said check for oil on the intake or exhaust side. Mine went and the car hasn't been on the road yet. Yes you get in and out power may even stop smoking for a bit but, it probably the turbo.
