I am changing my valve springs and at the same time thinking about my stock rocker shafts. I was going to have my tool room at work make me a set of soild shafts. My ? is what should I have them made from? Can they be complete solid or do they have to be thick wall? What is the odd number hole in the stock shaft for? Any help would be great.

I belive the "odd" hole is a tooling hole. It is used to index the shaft when machining it. A production thing. They can be solid or hollow. A hollow shaft will allow the plastic retainers to bite better, I think. If you have them threaded, then you could use an allen bolt to retain the rocker with a nylon washer. It needs to be hardened steel/ ground on a centerless grinder. I would suggest a call to TA or Fullthrottle for thier ready made ones. Unless your tool raoom works for free, that is.
