Im selling my truck on ebay, its basically a parts truck, and someone emailed me with a few questions and said they would like to purchase it immediately (buy it now). I specified that the buyer was responsible for transportation in the terms of sale. That being said, here's the email he sent me with HIS terms of delivery:

transaction,am purchasing this item onbehalf of my
client,who is based in bennin republic,i had forward your
reply to him,and he has agreed to purchase your
item,but before i proceed with this transaction i will
like to let you understand our terms and agreements.
the cashiers check that will be sent to you will
include the money for your item, the shipping charges, and
some other charges.so,when you cash this check
you'll deduct your money and send the difference back to
the shipping company that will come to pickup the
item through western union money transfer .
the shipping company will be coming from Africa
also.after 5 working days that you might have wire this
difference fee the shipping company will be coming to
pick the this item down to africa ,email
me the time you will be available for the pickup.so,if you
agree in this capacity pls send me your full name and your
contact address in which the check will be addressed.
pls get back to me

Seems awful suspicious, huh? I told him that and I would turn over the truck when I had payment in my hand but would not be involved in the shipping...waiting for a response. What do you guys think?

Scam...same letter came to a friend of mine selling a Supra.

I order certain things internationally and there is no reason this guy cannot simply get you the money up front.

Tell him you'll contact him once 100% of the money clears and is put into your account.

I got basically the same type of e-mail on a Chevy Tahoe I was trying to sell on E-Bay. Claimed to be from some country that I don't recall the name of. I suspected a scam and e-mailed him back that I would hold the vehicle until his check cleared my bank. I told him I was suspicious as I had heard of a scam similar to this before. He e-mailed me back very defensive saying I was accussing him of being a crook. Said we had a verbal committment since I said I would accept. I e-mailed him back that I was sending his e-mail to a police officer I knew locally. I never heard back from him again.

SCAM, my buddy got a call like that saying it was for a client in nigeria. They did not sell him the car.

Then the auction ended and they sent him a check. The check was totally fake. The guy kept telling them to cash it and send the money to them. Wel lthey went to the FBI.

A week later the guy calls again and says cash it or there will some problems.

Couple days later they caught a guy scoping the house out.

Same the next day, when they saw the guy he bolted and took off.

They alerted the neighbors and even neighbors have said there has been a guy hanging around.

Big scam. Fraudulent check. Stay far away. I get those emails constantly when I list on ebay. Africa, Dublin, here there everywhere. It's alll a big scam. And they are all almost verbatim. I've been dicked on the having to relist myself.

Luckily I realized somethin was fishy and didnt give out any of my personal info.
I reported it to ebay, requested a free relist, and am awaiting a reply. Havent heard back from the buyer "oriowo22" (oriowo11@yahoo.com) since I told him I wouldnt get involved in the shipping. Just sent him an email with the title "agree to your shipping terms" that inside read: "nice try @$$-hole".

My brother recently advertised his Mercedes Benz E55 on Auto Trader and got an E-Mail that was almost identical! These guys are con artist. Avoid it like the plague!!!

Sad thing is, its not even the least bit beleiveable. Who the heck would buy a broken down 84 pickuptruck for $1000, off ebay none the less, and have it shipped all the way to africa? I cant get people 40 miles away to buy this thing because of the shipping costs.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He was selling an engine block and got the same type of email. He called our local FBI field office and they told him scam. I believe he sent them all the info. He emailed the scammer back and told him he wasn't interested in shipping the block to Africa. I saw the bogus check the guy sent and it looked pretty good. Someone unsuspecting might have gone along w/ it.

I agree with no-nos, this seems like a great opportunity to have some fun with one of these azz-wipes! I myself have received one of those emails for a BMW I'm selling, I told him to go F-himself. I'm waiting for another one to try it so I could have some fun!! Fight fire with fire I always say!
