I have a friend with an '87 Turbo Limited. He has a dual cat back system with no cat and no mufflers. The thing isn't as loud as you would think, and I really love the fact that I can be half a block behind him and hear that spool-up of the turbo even if he's just accelerating away from a stop slowly.
My stock original exhaust finally gave out toward the end of last summer and I just never got around to putting a new system on yet. I've got a temporary rigged job for now.
I'm planning on ordering the Hooker system. Since it comes with mufflers I'm going to try it with them at first.
I seem to have misplaced my catalytic convertor.
My question is whether anyone on here who is similarly equipped (no cat and dual Hooker system) can easily hear the turbo spool through the exhaust. I can hear my turbo spool, don't get me wrong; but not through the exhaust at all. My friend's can be definitely heard through the exhaust.

I have the same setup as you, i wouldnt say i can hear the spool thru the exhaust, I hear the spool at the turbo under the hood though....now when i run open dump, i can hear it thru the exh....

Mine is silent. I have the Hooker duals and a High flow cat. You can hear the turbo from under the hood, but not too sure about out the back. No one has driven my car past me. :)

If you want to hear the turbo, run an open dump. I did that for about a month and a half. It is loud though.

My bud Jim has the Hooker Super Comp muffs and it drones somewhat but it seems to flow nice. Can't comment about hearing the turbo thru it though, it seems to sound louder from the engine side with his TE60.
