It's about that time to change em more or less, i like to kept them fresh. Anybody here running something new or other then the norm with good results?? I see KIRBAN has a set of E3 sprak plugs from what i read those are good and to be on their site must be atleast good to try. My question to every1 is what kinda spark plugs you running?

The answer you will get will be all over the board. The bottom line is they all work. NGKUR6. Brad

only reason i ask is cuz not to long ago i was told not to use Platinum+4 that they don't like high boost nor does any platinum for that matter(this or some other buick site), but i have had my eye on those along with NGK Iridium IX,ACCEL U-Groove ,NGK V-Power ,NGK G-Power Platinum. So if they all work then hell i think i'll try out the NGK GPs.

What's wrong with the cheapest plugs you can find? I aint seen any dyno tests showing a superior advantage with these gimmick plugs. Whats 1 or 2 horsepower worth? If you need a gimmick to fire off the cylinder than you have other issues that need to be corrected. Plenty of us going fast with $2.00 ACs and Autolites.

I beg to differ on that one!!!

I don't see how a Bosch platinum 4 or any Bosch platinum plug for that matter wpould not like boost, I have been running Bosch platinums in my car with out a single problem, and in my turbocharged Ford Ranger and put well over 100,000 miles on the same plugs:p The Bosch platinum plugs were designed for the Porsche 911, due to the fact you have to pull the motor just to change the spark plugs on them:eek: , so they came out with a plug that would keep matinance down and effecincy up!!! Besides the fact that my buddy has a 86 Porsche 911, 3.0 SOHC Twin Turbo and it has right around 850HP, and can hit over 200mph.;) So I really doubt that the Bocsh platinums in his car are not liking the boost:p

if the extra hp is given then i'll take it, but to me its more about spark and how long they work for. Other then that i use autolites, i just was told not to use the "better" brands for TRs(again buick site info) or 98% of the feedback i got told me not to use them. I just wanted something up to date, why not we spend big money on these cars why go cheap but i was just asking.

AC Delco period. Platinum and irridiums are supposed to be longer lasting but in the TR world, we usually screw something up or foul them out long before the 100,000 miles it would take to see the advantage of irridiums.

The other plugs like the +4s and splitfires are gimmicks. I couldn't run more than 15psi without it misfiring like crazy. The spark only goes to one electrode, it doesn't split perfectly into fourths. All you have done is shroud the spark from the mixture.

Hey

I was not trying to come off like an ******* I hear alot of talk about the platinum plugs being real crappy and I have had geat luck with them so far. I know they cost more, but have you seen how much platinum is worth:eek: Thats wht everyone wants the converters to turn in for the scrap value!!! As far as the mentioned Split Fire plugs go, yes they are junk and don't do crap!!! The reason for the Bosch platinum 4 plugs is not to fire on all 4 of the electrodes, the reason they are set up like that is to reduce fouling, 4 grounds if 1 shorts out is what they claim:rolleyes: As far as plugs go I really don't car how much power they give as long as they last, that is my main concern. Fouled out plugs won't help you in a race:eek: Stay clear away from the Champion plugs they are a waste of money and time to even put in your car or any for that matter:p I do like the NGK plugs but I have noticed they foul if they get to much oil on them:( I see some of you guys are not pleased with the Bosch platinum 4's I have not tried those yet cuase with the price of them they better talk to me as well;) I have only used the Bosch platinum plugs and that is it so far...... The whole reason for the platinum is to keep the plug cleaner long. Platinum has a high heat tolerance and when it gets warmed up nothing really will stick to it. Even the O2 sensors have platinum in them:eek: I see it this way what ever plugs seem to work good for your car is great for you!!! Different folks different strokes!!

On the old board (before the crash in '01) a bunch of people were trying the platinums in some of the faster cars. I remember problems with detonation at high boost in some of the faster cars. I believe platinum doesn't dissipate heat as quickly or something like that. AC Delco "CR" instead of the regular "R" were found to be great plugs. "CR" designates "commercial", they have a larger center electrode and will last pretty much forever.

You could be on to something there, I know Porsche don't have a problem with the platinum plugs and my Ford seems to like them as well, but I am only putting out 7psi of boost on it. Besides that they are all a different breed of motors. I have never really had a problem with the Bosch platinums in my car, but last week I had a major problem with my car turbo glowing, smoke out the exhaust, and a real strange sqealing in the motor. Well the motor locked up:mad: and I just pulled it today and will tear it down and go from there. I pulled the plugs and they seem like it was running rich??? I had also noticed the seem on my feul filter was leaking:mad: Don't reall know if that would cause a lean condition or not, but I know the car was running at 170 degrees and the oil pressure was at 45psi right till the motor locked up:mad: I ran it after I took all the belts off to eliminate them as the sqealing I heard and it fired up squealed and die and I turn the key and hear click:rolleyes: Well the breaker bar won't budge it and for some reason it sounded like it was in the top end of the motor, maybe the platinums are no good for these motors, if I see any damage to the dome if the pistons I will let you guys know!!

Well, we're an abnormal group of people. What other group routinely runs over 25psi boost?

Sorry to hear about the motor. I don't like platinums but I'm sure your problem was not spark plug related.

platnium plugs don't pass eletricity very well. So combined with that they don't conducted very well along with high cylinder pressure you will get spark blow-out.

The reason platnium spark plugs last so long is that since they don't conduct the eletricity very well they don't wear from the spark jumping from one contact to the other.

platniums plugs may work very well with a CDI ignition system where you have stupid amounts of firing power to keep them from blowing out the spark.

Also i think it was porsche statrt using the platnium pulgs first but they also had a very high energy cdi ignition system on those cars as well.

TurboFish3.8 i agree with ya those 1.98 autolite 23's works vewry well in SloGN.

I second that, autolite 23 have been the best plug for my set up and this is what 8 and 7 second cars run as well.

hi
i have astock 84 with red armstrong chip 93 octane how does the a/c rapid fire plugs sound i have them in know seem to be doing alright does anybody know about that plug.
thanks harold
