Spastic TCC Lock

Sometimes this thing runs great, other times it's doing the herky-jerky. Seems to run best when cold and after a good warmup, the converter refuses to unlock about 75% of the time. If I give it enough throttle, it seems to help it unlock. Kind of nerve-wracking when coming to a stop, as it feels like an eminenet stall.

Will it hurt to drive it like this?

Is the TCC out of the picture in first gear?

The TCC is out of the picture in 1st gear. It sounds like your solenoid is bad. It's a pretty easy fix, other than the trans fluid bath.
