speed o cable lube?

Anyone have knowledge of ways to lubricate a cable? Its making a noise and some lube would help? I have a couple of used cables and it appears the longer section from the junction at firewall to the transmission does not have a removable cable. The shorter cable from junction to speed o will remove if accessed from the dash cluster.
Have not checked if these are.

if you pop the small washer out of the end of the lower cable thats under the hood you can pull the cable out of the casing

is this washer on the end that goes into the transmission ?

its on the end of the lower cable where the two cables connect together
