I'm putting a TR analog dash in my hybrid build. The original cable is way long due to a cruise control setup. Does the TR cable go from the trans directly to the speedo? How long is it?

the speedo cable screws to another cable located on the firewall by the powermaster tha goes to vehicle speed sensor{vss]. Not sure on the length but it is a two cables.

Thanks for the reply Randy. I've been gathering components for this swap, and I have a VSS. The item I believe is the VSS is a pale green box about the size of a deck of cards, that has 3 wires coming off of it. It has a plug that connects to the speedo head, but there are no provisions for a cable. Anyone care to share a pic?

Yeah, I can see where the cable attatches to the head. What I'm trying to find out is if a single cable goes straight from the trans to the speedo, and if so, what is the length and/or part number, or alternate source?

I believe this is the info for a new AC Delco speedometer cable for a GN.

CABLE,SPEEDO
Part Number: 88959481
Product Notes:
[Speedometer Cable]; Flex w/casing, 100.91 in/2563.11 mm long ; CC1066 ; 4-Speed AT (MW9); Exc gear adapter
Per Vehicle: 1; Years: 1986-1987

This cable is a one piece. All our cars came from the factory with a two piece cable. Under the Powermaster is where the two cables went together. If your trying to retrofit something try to determine what length you need. You might be able to get a closer length by checking out the AC Delco website. Search for our Buick Regals or the other G-Body cars. I needed a new speedometer cable for my 85 Monte Carlo and they listed several different cables/lengths. FYI, when they are talking a gear adapter it's an inline device to change the gear ratio (a cable in, gear adapter about 3 inches long, and a cable out). I don't think you need to worry about this since you are just trying to get a length you can use.

Hope this helps, Craig
