Speedo Cable

Anybody replaced one of these? I just bought an aftermarket one from the local parts store. It is one piece instead of 2. So I will need to pull the upper cable as well which is no big deal. I've had the dash out before. Is there any tricks that you guys know of to feed the new one through at the firewall / cowl area to get it down to the trans? I started to pull the fender liner today but I figured there might be an easier way.

I really can't remember how I pulled mine or if I did. It may be worth your time to pull some of the dash apart or all the way out. Its a little more work but it will leave you a lot more room. Your biggest obstacle will be to get to the tab that holds the cable to the back of the speedometer. If you can get that undone you should be home free the rest of the way. Taking the inner fender off should not be needed if I remember right
