Hi Guys,

I want to change my speedometer gear and housing. Any idea what the GM part numbers are? I have a Canadian car that reads in kilometers? Does that change anything? Also I want to change the speedometer cable. What is the GM part number for that and is it a one piece or two piece. The GM dealers here seem to be clueless for an 87 GN. Please let me know...

I weant to do all these things because my spedo jumps and bounces even though I have only 33000 miles on the car.

Regards,

Spend some time and lubricate the existing cable and you can save alot of money.

A lot of people use regular wheel bearing grease or lithium grease. See if that works for you.

I'm pretty sure it's a two piece cable that's the same for both US and Canadian cars.

If you are in a cold climate, use a thinner type lube, even motor oil,for the cable There is a special moly based cable lube if you can find it .Disconnect cable from speedo under dash an feed lube and cable in together...messy job
