I have my GN engine and 200 4R transmission in my street rod (1946 Plymouth) I am is changing the speedo gear to match with my rear/tire combination. The original gear is a 30 tooth steel shaft with pressed on nylon gear. The replacement gear is all nylon. The inboard stub end of the nylon over steel shaft is aprox .50" diameter (where the nylon is pressed onto the 'D' end of the shaft). The same dimension on the new all nylon gear is .30" All other dimensions are the same. Is the stub end free floating? Is there supposed to be a bushing that goes with the all nylon gear?

Been a while since I've looked at that area, can't remember if it's supported or not. One of the Builders on here should know for sure. Or shine a light in there to check.
I see the difference in size you're talking about here > http://www.transmissioncenter.net/speedometer_calibration_______va.htm#200
