Ok. How do I get my speedometer plate off? I don't mean the overlay, I mean the plate that the overlay sticks onto. The printed aluminum pan. Does the speedometer needle pull off? And how do you get the trip reset button out?

I think you'll need to pull the cluster to do what you are asking. Its not too bad to pull out. You need to undo the speedo cable from the rear of the cluster and then two connectors that go to the cluster as well. I had to pull my radio out to undo the two connectors as the cables are fairly long and plug in down that way.
Here is a picture of my cluster apart so hopefully that helps. If i recall the either the trip reset button just pulls off, or you pushed a screw driver into the opening slot seen at the bottom of it in the picture and it just pulls off.

this is helpful too http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/dash_swap.htm

Once it is out everything just basically unscrews pretty easy.

No. I want that black pan out. How do I get the speedo needle out of the way to be able to slide the black pan out?

Its honestly been a year since I took mine apart. If I recall I just had to undo the screws holding the front plate on, pull the end off the trip meter and I had enough room to slip it out. I was doing mine on the bench so it was easy to pull apart.

What is that extra yellow vertical needle for? That doesn't look familiar at all.

If you take the 2 small screws holding the pan on you can rotate the pan and gently move the needle out of the way. Getting the trip odometer shaft off is a diffetent story. If you look under it, the end piece is an extension piece. There is a slot that looks like you can depress a tab to slip the extention off. I could not get mine off and was afraid to break it. Maybe someone else knows the trick to this???

That was the trick; I had to depress that little lever on the reset button. It didn't help though.
