For those using this turbo how is spool up with foot brake. I have a 9.5 nonlockup (3200-3300 stall).

What chip are you running? I run the Extender, which has quick spool I think, and it spools my T64E very quickly. I run a pretty tight 9/11 that stalls less than 3000 RPM at 0 boost.

I have a friend that custom builts my chips. What turbine housing are you running?

I have a LT70 in a .63 Garret housing and a 2800-3000 stall (at 0psi) 9" N/L right now and spoolup is decent aginst the brakes. The only problem is the car will kill the tires leaving with any more than 2-3psi :)

If you want an LT70 turbo to spool up with a 9.5" 3200-3300 stall converter I suggest you get it with the ball bearing option and use a MaxEffort or Extender chip for quick spool up.... I'm pretty sure Geno had a 70 BB turbo and was using a 3500 stall converter, but he also had a Felpro/FAST system:)

I have a hard time saying about spool up because my car is so outta tune its not even funny

with my old 50# injectors which were tuned i had a 9/11 2800 stall converter with it and it took a lil bit to spool up the turbo

from a dead stop punch the converter flashed up and boost went up around 5# and sat there till 3400 rpm when the boost gauge shot over to wherever it was set
I had my 9/11 restalled to 3400 and went to 75# injectors but have not gotten the fuel curve close at all with these injectors so its really rich down low which slows down spool up alot

so untill i get the fuelling issues strait its hard to say but i think its going to be fine cause now if i stab it from a dead it stumbles with black puff out the exaust and soon as stumbles gone im full boost and sideways ..;)

I will mostly likely will be going with the LT70. The only question now is picking out the right turbine housing. I know that the Precision .63 is bigger than the Garrett .63 and .82. I have to really do the research on the three Turbine Housing that interest me. It will be in a 3 bolt pattern. Thanks REDS for your e-mail. :)

BuickTR if you are use a LT70 3 bolt I would suggest you use at least an 81 housing.

You will have great spool up with it but what you have to be careful of is not limiting the top end flow of the turbo.

A 9 inch converter with a stall of 3000 rpms will work really well for that turbo. Bruces' 9/11 converter will hold up really well for that and it will still lock up.

Make sure whomever burns your chips knows which turbo you will use. They can lean the fuel out a little on the low end so it will spool up quickly.

By the way, I recommend 72 lb/hr injectors for that turbo. Anything less will result in burnt pistons and popped head gaskets.:(

Make sure the fuel pump you have will support the new combo as well.

Good luck!

I will be getting some new 72 lb injectors. I just sold my 50's. I'm also upgrading to double pumpers. The Garrett .82 housing looks most suiteable for my combo. If I need to upgrade convertors later I will have no problem doing that.:D

Will you be using a chip or a stand alone ECM ?

The reason I ask is this. The double pumpers work just fine and I am not saying stay away from them. The trick with them is to set the second fuel pump to kick in at the right psi setting. They have a tendency to give people fits because at first they are really lean on the low end and then all of a sudden they run very rich. It is because of the second pump coming on.

If you will be using a chip, your only adjustment is at the Hobbes switch that controls when the 2nd pump comes on.

If you use a DFI or similar you can adjust the fuel map to compensate as well.

As info...
