If we could just swap out a few more key parts between my bus and your GN, I think I'll have him covered. Did they through him out for going too fast? Or, when they saw his time slip, figured that it must be someone elses . My MT DRs showed up today. Now all I need is my car back from the trans shop . It's been there 5 of the last 6 weeks. Still havent had a chance to flog and tune the new Muton Motor Special. Lou says my car should be at least as fast as your GN (after you let Ralph drive it for a week):biggrin: .

A guy I knew in high school had a VW bus that could hang the hoops.

I can't remember what it ET'd, but it was friggin' quick and embarrassed many V8's.

Here's a quick shot of mine breaking in a new set of skins.

I don't know how these things got such a bad rap for being slow. The 1971 and older were slow because they had a small engine compartment and could only fit a bug motor. 1972 and up came factory with a big pancake style engine with dual carbs. Almost any Porsche 911 motor would bolt right up, with room for turbos, if needed. With the engine over the drive wheels, they put the HP to the ground like nothing else. I think that alot of people drive them slow to sucker in Mustangs, Cameros, and Vetts, and make some money. I know I have . Let me tell you. Theres nothing WORSE than getting your pride and joy, muscle car taken behind the wood shed by a old VW camper Bus .

1915cc t-3 turbo charged motor in it 650 holeey fed 8#'s of boost, that was replaced with a 2332 cc t-66 turbo charged 750 Demon fed 28#'s of boost. here are some pictures

I was at Irwindale that one day too, only saw 1 black buick, probably a gn, also someguy flipped his bike but that was it. And there were a couple of quick bugs there too. I was the only other oldsmobile in the parking lot :wink:

I knew that "surf slug" waws something other than an ordinary bug vagon but I had no idea that it was that strong. Good thing that I did not try and race you when we were all going home from Fontana that day.
