I have an electric gauge in the car now but it doesn't work. There are 2 ports on the intake manifold that I can see. Both in the front, one on top (1 wire coming from the sensor) and the other one in the very front (multiple wire harness). I'm guessing the one at the very front of the intake is where the ecm gets the temp from correct? What is the other one, and can I take it out and run a mechanical gauge there? Thanks!

the one behingd the cam sensor with two wires (yellow-black)is for the ecm and your car wont run right without it
the one on top driverside with one (dk grn /orn stripe) is the high temp overheat switch , if for some reason your low speed fan stopped working (bad relay etc .) and you werent paying attention to the mechanical gauge that switch will command the high speed fan to turn on and may save your motor .
if you look on the passengerside of the intake in the front on the passenger side youll see a third sensor (actually just a switch) with one wire , that switch is for the idiot light in the dash and will come should your car start to overheat , it doesnt do anything else so pull it out and install your coolant gauge sensor there .
