Stage II on-center block .020 over, billet crankshaft 3.59 stroke std/std, Crower 6.5 rods std/std, normally aspirated roller cam, double roller timing set, high compression pistons - this is an ex-Busch motor, assembled, dynoed 1x, and has been sitting ever since. Swap out the pistons and the cam and you're in business. $5,000

This isn't junk folks. Price a good S2 block, rods and crank and you'll spend a lot more than this.

Not wanting to offend you but typically ex Busch GN motors sell for $5k complete. You're offering a shortblock correct?

Why is that Neal? And why would you want a off center over a on center block?

Easier to use Champion or TA heads with a ported stock manifold, and use a stock front cover and accessory brackets on an off-center. On an on-center, some modification is needed.

I guess I don't understand the question. It was a statement as to the real world value of ex-Busch GN engines. I've bought 3 for less than $4k each. I don't think the 2nd question was for me but Off center engines are easier to configure with the stock type intake, front cover, brackets etc. as stated above.

Are busch engines both even fire and odd fire. Would there be any problems to run a oddfire motor with a turbo? TIA.

It looks like we've ruined this guy's post. To answer your question Busch GN engines were built both evenfire end oddfire. I'd say probably 90% were evenfire. You can run a oddfire motor with a turbo but you'll need an aftermarket engne management system. I can only think of one oddfire turbo engine it belonged to Ron Fruchy and was in his SSDX car. This is the only one that comes to mind. There are a few guys running oddfire normally aspirated engines.

Thanks Neal. Bent6-Sorry about all the questions concerning busch motors and good luck with your sale, i just picked up a complete off center block or i would be interested in your on center one.

I would be interested in keeping it normally aspirated. What are the problems associated with finding heads and intakes for the on-center engine if sticking with N/A? Bent6, do you know the specs on the cam and what the CR is?

Heads aren't a problem. You could pick up some Stage 2 heads or use Champions. As far as an intake, 4bbl intakes aren't that hard to find and can be converted to FI if that's what you're wanting to do. I have no idea on the cam specs as I've never bothered checking it or the CR as I would change all of that if I used this shortblock.
