Stage right trans brake

My buddy had a stage right t/brake installed in his 200 And now the 1-2 shift is not firm like before, with the shifter in 2,3rd gear position. If the trans is put in overdrive, it drives great,firm shifts through all the gears. Does anyone have an idea of what may be happening?

Check the linkage at the trans. When you put it in each gear,besure the trans
linkage is really all the way in gear.Sometimes when the pan is pulled the brackets do not get back in place right which puts the linkage off just enough that sometimes the cable does not let the shifter thangy put the trans all the way in gear. This is really critical when changing trans to like a 400 or 350 ETC.That is what i would ck first.
