Sorry, I know you get alot of these. I recently bought this car 87 gn and was told it had a new battery, looks new and dosnt seem to need charging. When I try to start all I get is clicking. It will start with a jump or even hooked up to the charger for a min.

thanks
Mike

Have your alternator checked out. Alot times people replace the battery due to alternator problems that are mis-diagnosed.HTH

Lights

Hi

Do you have lights?

Make sure ALL the contacts (Batt terminals, grounds, positive leads, fuses blah blah blah) are good.

How long do you charge it for? Does the needle on the charger move or is it steady?

See if you can get your hands on one of those battery testers, it is like a big resistor and puts a massive load on the battery.

There could be enough current to light the lights but not enough to turn Mr. motor.

OR, steal the batt out of anothere car so you can test the Alt as stated by bsdlinux.

I would charge the battery for an hour or so, then see if the problem persists. Even on the new car back lots, some of the new cars will only have enough juice in their batteries after the cars sit for a few weeks to only cause the solenoid to chatter.

The charger seemed to do the trick. I broke the number rule and bought the car sight unseen. The car seems to run good and sounds great, but im not to happy with the inside. I couldnt tell from the pics but the dash is cracked up and the doors panels look like hell. Also the speakers are allmost hanging out on the doors and in the back. Ahh well whats done is done.

here is a link if any one wants to look.

Well you certainly paid less than what is on the winshield. I guess anyone could put any number on there.

Looks better than my car. :(
