Stay Down License plates

I have a few of these left. They look like regular license plate frames but stay down when you need to pump gas.

Please forgive the potentially stupid question... but how do they work?

Is there still a spring to hold the plate upright?

JM: you are correct it's spring loaded... Unlike our stock license plate holders that will go out of their way to "bite" you should you not wedge them with something- usually your gas cap- these plates will stay down until you fold them back up...

I have one on each of my cars... Everyone with a TR should have one; they're essential.
