Well - that's the $64,000 search for me at the moment.

I want a decently priced GPS tracker.
Some of those with 30 bucks a month service contract seem to me overpriced.

But I want one with certain features.
Zone Alert
Movement alert
etc
More specific to vehicle tracking or theft prevention.
They have units that sort of incorporate alarm features with I/O into a GPS tracker unit.

I've researched and researched the ole "hide a cell phone under the dash thing" but have yet to really get handle on that.

I have an old iPhone 3 that I could use for such a purpose - but again, I'm sort of wanting something that is designed for in-vehicle specific use with some features.
Maybe even remote starter disable / door unlock.

And the thing is I've asked some of the guys on here, like Brian etc - "Tell me the most popular or best GPS tracker" and I haven't yet heard a consensus.
Lert alone even one brand name someone recommended.

Club? Junk, anyone can cut the steering wheel with a hacksaw in seconds. Might slow em up a bit but deter? Not a chance.

Keeping it locked down, out of sight and the fewer that know it's there the better. I have the steadfast and starter interupt. My car isn't very nice but I get offers to buy it pretty regularly. Keep it in sight as best you can. If someone decides they need it it might just disappear.

That cylinder there pushes in and locks it in park. Again not fool proof but slows them down.

Mine has been "got" once and got the column broke but apparently the starter interupt spooked em and kept it where I left it. Then the steadfast. Worked so far but I don't daily it any more.

since my car is long gone, ill explain my security system.

1. in order to bypass the starter kill, the headlights must be on and your seatbelt must be clicked in.
- a thief would never turn on the headlights and draw attention to himself before the car is moving. They will usually never lock themselves down with a seatbelt in case they need to escape.
if these two things were not done, the horn would honk everytime the key is turned to start position.

if they get past these, they can have it.

Reasonably priced.

Service is like a hundred bucks a year and you can track the car on your home computer, laptop, tablet or cell phone in real time, Vigilante Style, the way I like it.

I know it can be set up to remote start, door unlock and a boatload of other stuff on newer cars,
not sure about our Buicks though. Mine has manual locks anyway.

Unlike Lojack, Guidepoint tracks off of cell phone towers and satellites so if there is cell service of any kind, there's tracking on you car.

Thanks texasT. Thought it might be a custom setup. Now I'll see what I can drum up on the inter-new-webs-google thingy! Lol
